Depending on the browser and RSS reader that you are using this is normal. On my system for example I use Google Reader, so for RSS feeds that I want to add I have to copy the RSS link and then paste it into my reader. From there it operates normally. If you have a reader that is a plug in to your browser it will recognize that it's an RSS feed and will display correctly with an option to add the feed to your reader automatically.
